The premise

The best travel lists are personal. Sun and I had collected more than a hundred Tokyo places across two Google Maps lists—shops, galleries, cafés, restaurants, and spaces chosen for atmosphere as much as utility. The knowledge was useful, but the interface was not.

The problem

A dense cloud of saved pins does not reveal taste. It cannot explain what deserves a detour, help someone browse by neighbourhood, or turn a long list into an itinerary. I wanted the collection to feel edited: clear enough to use on the street and considered enough to share.

The approach

I gave an AI collaborator the two source lists, a visual reference, and a precise description of the feeling I wanted. Together we shaped the information architecture, cleaned the Tokyo-only data, added ratings, and iterated on the details—from the quiet washi palette to clickable overview statistics.

The outcome

The result is a responsive field guide to 105 places across 20 categories. Visitors can search, filter by category or area, browse a focused Top Picks list, and open any place directly in Google Maps. What began as private saved data became a small, durable public object.
